Improving attendance is everyone’s business. The barriers to accessing education are wide and complex, both within and beyond the school gates, and are often specific to individual pupils and families. At Co-op Academy Hillside, we will do all we can to support your family and ensure our academy is safe, calm and a supportive environment for your child. Let’s celebrate everyone’s success together.

Katy Bergman’s post has been extended. She is now Executive Headteacher across all three of our Wirral Co-op Academies.
We have strengthened our leadership team at Co-op Academy Hillside, effective immediately:
Katy Bergman as our Executive Headteacher.
Jennie Hamer will step into the role of Head of School.
Many of you will already know Mrs Hamer as a valued and longstanding member of our school team as EYFS lead and Assistant Headteacher. We are sure she will enjoy much success within her new role, Congratulations, Jennie!
Claire Culshaw will continue with her role of Deputy Headteacher, ensuring consistency and stability to our school community.
As the current Executive Headteacher of Co-op Academy Hillside and Co-op Academy Woodslee, Katy is looking forward to working with Team Portland to strengthen our partnership. Please be reassured, Katy will continue to be highly involved in all things Hillside.

Today, Year 5 dove into their first STEAM project, where they were challenged to build their own catapults using limited resources. Their teamwork, creativity, and success were all evaluated by a very impressed Mrs. Clayton. Well done, Year 5! #SucceedTogether

Our family partnership duo will be working hard across our communities to continue to strengthen partnerships with our families.
Keep a look out for our Co-op drop in sessions with Claire & Michelle ![]()

We hope you had a joyful Christmas and a fantastic New Year! While the start to this term didn’t go as planned thanks to the weather, we're excited for the adventures ahead and can't wait to be together again!
Many of our pupils have been making the most of the snowy weather this week, enjoying fun-filled moments building snowmen, having snowball fights, and embracing the winter wonderland. We have loved seeing all your pictures!
We'd also like to extend a huge thank you to our wonderful staff member, Paul, for his dedicated work behind the scenes in keeping our site safe, and Miss Williams who was out there with him. Also to Ms Bergman for her early morning site checks. Your efforts are truly appreciated!

Year 1 kicked off their first day back with a creative exploration of Paul Klee’s artwork, using watercolours to bring their own masterpieces to life. It’s clear we have some budding artists in the making!

If your child is absent from school, you must inform the school office by 9am of the reason for absence.

I just want to take a moment to say a big thank you to all our families, old and new, for making this term at Co-op Academy Hillside so special. It’s such a privilege to be the headteacher of this thriving community school, and with all your support, I know Hillside will keep going from strength to strength.
Thank you for your unwavering support. You are all an important part of our community. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas!
Warmest Regards,
Ms Katy Bergman

WHAT. A. DAY!!! π π π From Santa’s arrival to an inflatable grotto, mischievous elves, a Christmas pony, snow, dancing, singing, and a whole lot of festive fun – our first Christmas Extravaganza was nothing short of magical!

Pupil Shout Out: We are incredibly proud of this wonderful young lady, who truly embodies kindness in everything she does. She sold her own toys to raise funds for Birkenhead Dog Kennels, helping to buy Christmas treats for the dogs. We are so delighted that you chose to join us here at Hillside – your generosity and spirit inspire us all. β€οΈ

A massive well done to this incredible group of Year 4 and 5 students, who were chosen to represent our school choir and spread Christmas cheer at the Croft Retail Park this morning! Mrs. Clayton and Mrs. Coombes were absolutely blown away by their fantastic behaviour and festive spirit. You truly shone as wonderful ambassadors for our academy – well done, everyone! πΆπ

In a Hillside first, we’ve hosted our very own Christmas Tree Festival! Each class was given a tree to decorate, and the creativity and festive spirit were truly on display. We had so much fun, and the results were absolutely stunning! Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas filled with joy and sparkle! π
