A very special December for Co-op Academy Hillside
Co-op Academy Hillside had an outstanding month in December. In full Christmas cheer the staff worked tirelessly to provide our students with a festive period to remember. The month started off with our very first talent show - Hillside’s got Talent. This was a night filled with talent, joy and fun as over 10 acts performed for staff, students and families. The hall was turned into a magical stage to perform on and the staff even got involved with their own staff dance. The event brought joy and laughter to our staff and families and was definitely one to remember. A special thanks to all of our performers and an extra little mention to our top three acts - Lexi, Sam, Thea and Maillee.
Half-way through such an exciting month, Hillside held their very own Christmas fayre. This included a range of local business stands, a visit from A-Z safari, a delicious food stall, Christmas themed games and much more. We were even lucky enough to get a special visit from Santa himself. The community enjoyed a wonderful evening and many commented on how it really got them into the Christmas spirit. One parent commented on how she felt like the community had really come together for this event and that her children had a fabulous time.
To end such a fantastic month, Co-op Academy Hillside then managed to pull off their very first Christmas extravaganza day. This superb event allowed every child in the academy to visit Santa and his elf. They received their very own special treat, had tonnes of fun in the fake snow and not forgetting getting to meet the cutest elf pony around. Brady Clayton (community pioneer) said “the event went down a storm, the whole school atmosphere was amazing and it really helped spread the Christmas cheer. A special thanks to the schools PTA for their fundraising over the last year which meant that this fantastic day could go ahead!”
Executive Headteacher Katy Bergman said: “ Our Co-op Academy Hillside Christmas events brought the entire community together. The series of events were intended to engage all stakeholders; children, families and staff and they did just that. The academy hosted its first ‘Hillsides got talent” event which allowed over 200 people to come together to celebrate local talent and also to celebrate our academy. Throughout the Christmas extravaganza children were able to visit Santa along with many other Christmas themed activities that certainly deviated from the ‘norm’. We look forward to next year and plan to host an equally wonderful Christmas period in 2025!”.
