Tranmere Rovers in the community was established back in the late 1980s this was something originally aimed at using football and other sporting activities as educational tools. Tranmere Rovers in the Community has now developed into a charity which engages with thousands of people across Wirral. 

This charity provided our children with a 6 week after school sports programme. They also conducted a workshop in Year 5 based around peer pressure and negative influences. Throughout this workshop children began to understand what peer pressure is, how to distinguish between positive and negative influences and our behaviour and impact of choices we make for ourselves and others. 

Tranmere Rovers in the Community have been working with Hillside for a couple of months now. They initially started back in April providing an after school programme for year 5 and 6. 

Tranmere Rovers in the Community has grown massively over the years and is now a registered charity who are always providing extra curricular activities in the community. They work across three core themes: Health and wellbeing, enhancing lives and citizenship. They offer a wide range of groups and clubs for children, young people and their families. The programme is based at Tranmere Rovers recreation centre and they run a number of sessions from both the centre and in schools themselves with over 300 participants a week. 

Year 5 children commented on the workshop and the after school club - one child mentioned how they really enjoyed both and how important the workshop was with lots of important information given in a fun and enjoyable way. Another child mentioned how their after school club has encouraged them to play more sports and given them more confidence when playing football.

Ciara O’Broin (Year 5 Class Teacher) said - “The workshop was really engaging and it equipped the children with the knowledge and understanding they will need to navigate safely in our society. The people delivering the workshop were very knowledgeable and approachable. The kids loved it!”
