Hillside gets active
Hillside have been working closely with Active Wirral this year. Active Wirral is a council run company which provides leisure facilities across the Wirral which includes Swimming Pools, Group fitness classes, Sailing, Golf, Tennis courts, Holiday clubs and much more.
Active Wirral have been working with Hillside for a few months now including providing coffee mornings in school to inform parents and carers about what is on offer in the community for their children through their company in the school holidays. In April children from our Year 5 class were lucky enough to take part in a rugby and football event at Leasowe recreation centre.
Active Wirral have been working with our school to ensure that families in our community are given the opportunity to use these amazing facilities both in school time and throughout the holidays.
One child said:
“It was so much fun, we loved getting to use the astro turf and can’t wait to go to another competition in the future”
Catherine Dunne who works for Active Wirral and was over seeing the event said
“Congratulations to all pupils from Co-op Academy Hillside who attended the football and Rugby session. The children took part in football and rugby drills throughout the morning showing great attitude and resilience. It was an absolute pleasure to have your children attend and they were a joy to coach. We look forward to your next visit. Keep up the good work!”
Michelle McLaughlin (Inclusion manager) said - The children had a great time, they really enjoyed everything that was on offer. Their behaviour was outstanding and they really made Hillside proud. Active Wirral put on a great morning for our children full of fun and fitness. Well done to all involved.
